Mentor Applications Being Accepted

Judy Colby-George, Chairperson of the newly created Mentor Committee is pleased to announce
that applications to be a mentor for one of our scholarship recipients are now available.

The goal of our mentoring program is:
To provide a positive college life experience to the recipients of the National Scholarship Fund through
other adult life experiences, while providing the necessary information and support to help these young
adults succeed.

We hope to achieve this goal by helping to create a stable adult relationship between the scholarship
recipient of the National Scholarship Fund and the Mentor, and by create a relationship of support and
“being there” between these young adults and the Mentor, while experiencing a positive family support
system.

If you would like to become a mentor, please download our application at or call (207) 510-7502 to have an application mailed to you.

Community Colleges Applications Now Accepted

By unanimous vote, the Board of Directors has now opened its application process to those young adults who have grown out of foster care and want to attend community college in Maine.

Enrollment in the Maine Community College system is growing, and the Board felt that with this growth, the scholarship application process should include those students who want to enroll.

The Board has also approved limited funding beginning in January 2009 for students who grew out of foster care who are currently enrolled in a Maine Community College. Applications can be found here.
